Background. Currently, the analysis and evaluation of innovation activity is relevant in the context of new technologies the growing influence. Long-term sustainable economic growth is impossible without innovation as the main impetus of the economic process. The purpose of this work is to study the theoretical basis of innovation from the viewpoint of evaluation. Consideration of approaches to innovation identification. Revealing the economic characteristics of innovation as a subject of analysis. Also practical criteria definition of innovations realization.
Methods. As the information, base of the research the modern theory of management of innovative activity, data of periodical editions, and fundamental works of domestic and foreign scientists on problems of estimation of innovative activities.
Results. Approaches to identification of innovation from the point of view of analysis are considered. Economic peculiarities of innovation and orientation of evaluation activity are highlighted. The criteria in the analysis of practical feasibility of innovations are developed. The author's grouping of kinds of effects as objects of estimation depending on sphere and direction of innovations is offered.
Conclusions. The estimation of innovative activity is proposed to build basing on approaches to identification of innovation, its economic peculiarities, and basing on criteria at practical realization with the reception purpose of certain kind effect.
